In order to create my "brand" as a writer I had to look back at all of the horribly written journal entries, papers, blog posts, and a few of my successful short stories and essays that would lead me to some sort of a conclusion as to what type of writer I am. I've noticed that in my most successful pieces people always seem to comment on how they find my writing to be real, humorous at times, imaginative, and honest. Four things that I truly value in writing. So that's my niche. Writing with a strong voice about topics that matter to people my age. College, loans, meaningless life, and once in a while a wonderful experience that makes it all worth it. I mean, who better to write about these types of things then someone who is currently going through it? Many of the pieces that have been subject to revision and criticism are pieces that are full of babbling, my thoughts written out in front of the reader, possibly making little sense seem to make the most sense because college girls my age tend to be able to relate to my hopeless babbling about my future.
A good way to network my writing would be to use some sort of blogging website, like this. That way my writing can remain casual, for the most part. Also blogging is mainly on the internet so it will be easy to access for most of the readers who would be interested in my type of brand.
This brand isn't my only goal with writing, which is why it makes picking a type of brand pretty difficult. I feel like I need more life experience and writing experience to fully understand who I want to be as a writer because for now I just enjoy getting my annoying thoughts about never knowing what to do out in a creative way that others my age can relate to.
